Sensory Processing/ Integration

Does your child seem overwhelmed by everyday sounds, lights, or textures? Do they experience frequent meltdowns, struggle with daily activities, or seem like they can never get enough stimulation? These challenges can make it harder for children to focus, manage their emotions, coordinate movements, and interact with others.

We understand that every child is unique. Our approach starts with a thorough assessment to understand your child’s sensory needs. From there, we create fun, engaging activities to help your child improve their sensory processing skills, so they can feel more confident and comfortable in their day-to-day life.

Feeding/ Oral Motor Skills

If your child struggles with eating, whether due to picky eating habits, oral-motor difficulties, or swallowing issues, we are here to help. Our approach is designed to assess and address the underlying causes of your child’s feeding challenges, creating a more positive mealtime experience.

We specialize in using evidence-based techniques and strategies to help children develop a healthy relationship with food and improve their ability to eat a variety of foods. Our methods are tailored to each child’s unique needs and incorporate a combination of therapies, including:

  • S.O.S Approach to Feeding®(Sequential-Oral-Sensory)

  • TalkTools® Oral Placement Therapy

  • Oral Motor, Swallowing and Nutritional Support

Fine and Visual Motor Skills

Is your child avoiding drawing, handwriting, or everyday tasks like tying shoes, fastening buttons, or getting dressed? Are they having a hard time learning to type?

These challenges can stem from more than just muscle strength. We assess a full range of skills including:

  • Upper Body Strength and Coordination

  • Fine motor control and Manual dexterity

  • Visual processing and Ocular motor

    Visual-motor and Visual-perceptual Integration

All of these areas play a crucial role not only in handwriting, but also in academic success—impacting skills like reading, spelling, and math.

Our personalized targeted strategies help your child develop the coordination, confidence, and independence they need to succeed both in school and in everyday life. We use developmentally appropriate programs such as Handwriting / Learning Without Tears® to support foundational writing and early learning skills.

Gross Motor / Coordination

Is your child struggling to keep up on the playground or during sports? Do they appear weak, uncoordinated, or find it difficult to meet early developmental milestones?

At Motivating Minds, we understand how these challenges can impact your child’s confidence and daily life. We specialize in identifying and addressing key areas of motor development, including:

  • Postural control

  • Balance

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Retained reflexes

  • Agility

  • Strength

Using proven methods such as Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) and Sensory Integration, we create individualized programs to help your child develop essential motor skills. These foundational abilities support improved coordination, greater self-confidence, and success in both physical and everyday activities.

Social-Emotional Skills

In our Occupational Therapy sessions, we implement evidence-based programs such as The ALERT Program® and Zones of Regulation® to support self-regulation and emotional awareness to help children better understand and manage their emotions. A key part of our work includes educating and supporting families, while collaborating closely with other professionals involved in your child’s care. Through identifying the right tools and techniques, we support your child’s ability to engage in daily activities, build meaningful relationships, and develop stronger emotional regulation skills—all within the context of their everyday environment.

Auditory Processing/ Listening Skills

Auditory processing is essential for how children interpret and respond to sounds in their environment. Challenges in auditory processing can impact attention, communication, emotional regulation, and learning, making it difficult for children to follow directions, process verbal information, or stay engaged in noisy environments.

Motivating Minds addresses auditory processing difficulties by incorporating specialized listening programs such as Vital Links Therapeutic Listening® and Quickshifts as well as Integrated Listening System (iLs), including the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP). These evidence-based programs use specially designed music and sound frequencies to stimulate the brain, enhance sensory integration, and improve skills such as attention, regulation, and motor coordination.
